"The relationship between commencement and culmination is explicit in the exhibition; the works, though fully flesh out, function at the level of inquiries, experiments, and the referential, providing a candid glimpse into the artistic process. This opportunity to capture the essence of their practice breaks away from the traditional compendium format of an exhibition-- this is not a condensed finite version of their work, rather an expansive more open-ended platform for continued development.
There is also a trend, and a conversation about conglomeration. Cindy Becerra's range of marks come together to create an ever expanding field of energy. Thomas Bils' interventions upon found photographs display close-knit interactions between self, present and past. Emmanuel Rivas' neatly gridded wall-infused letters carry a unifying cumulative personal history. Rachel Leere-re-appropriates DIY techniques and the aesthetics of 90's alternative subculture to assemble a contemporary visual concert. Rafael Rodriguez'sculpture with projected overlays fuses and diffuses time, space and matter through repetition. And Alejandro Valencia's chalkboards are composites of diagrams and marginal notes collectively intimate and universally poignant."
