Public Relations more "Public" than ever, LAB Miami tenants share their storyAug 18, 2015
Last week, I had the pleasure of meeting with the founders
of Wyncode—one of LAB Miami’s brilliant academies. Today, I had the honor of
speaking with two minds that have combined their dynamic personalities and
visionary minds to create Carve Communications. The Public Relations company
was founded by duo David Barkoe and Moon Vitiello; both former New York PR agency employees now find themselves at the heart and soul of the rising “Miami Tech”
world. Having previously shared a small office space with an even smaller
window overlooking a charming building shaft, they decided to part ways with
the competitive PR world in NYC.
Though David and Moon did not plan their move to Miami together, their timing aligned so perfectly, a Facebook status update was sufficient enough to bring them back together in the same city. Soon enough, the two were working for the same agency in Miami. This collaborative work lasted until a certain realization set in: they could branch out and into a direction that was more equipped to fulfill what they envisioned in the world of Public Relations and start-ups in Miami. “Miami, the next silicon beach,” was all they needed to hear to pursue “Carve”. As of October of 2014, Carve Communications began making its way into the tech world, at first with a free office space sponsored by their friends at M8 for 6 months to then transitioning into their current office space in LAB Miami.
Carve creators had the advantage of starting with already established relations amongst their NYC clients whom they could rely on and trust with ease. This allowed for legroom in selectivity and in turn they were able to choose clients through the network they established with their partners. This symbiotic relationship produced an array of clients whose products spanned the food & health world to the realm of apps and coding. By providing their clients with a universal base of services (“Awareness. Engagement. Activation.”), they’re able to cover a variety of needs across the spectrum.
Miami, being the goldmine for places such as Wynwood, holds a window of opportunity to approach and meet new faces in every corner. David and Moon have used this very not-New York asset as a method of communication and expansion, which has been evident through their work so far.
